Default Facebook Application Problems

Please Login to Remove!

I installed yesterday the facebook application for blackberry. But for some reason it is not updating anything. I mean I can send stuff and people receive it, but when they send me anything, it doesn't show up.

Did anyone see this problem before ?? how do I fix it ?

What are you expecting. You should get notifications. Try a battery pull.

Did you verify that your Facebook settings are set to send notifications to you? And that the BlackBerry app is enabled in your Facebook preferences?

I agree that it could be a settings issue-- your doing or otherwise. I got a strange email a few weeks back from FB that some of my settings were lost-- turns out that all items set to notify me on the BB had been flagged off-- had to turn them back on.

More than that though, FB app on the BB is total junk. Love my BB, Love my FB but there are big issues with them together. A few weeks back, my email locked up completely on the BB-- nothing would come through. Deleted every email on the BB, cleared email accounts at the ISP to remove any bad email causing this. Deleted email accounts and put them back on the BB-- you name it, rebooting the BB and pulling the battery over and over along the way. Zero changes...

Finally I deleted FB and restarted one more time and problem completely vanished. At least now I know that if the battery trick doesn't solve a hung BB, the FB app is the first thing to suspect!

BTW, I did reinstall FB and it is working but this nonsense is apparently fairly common from what I read. Oh, and one other thing-- I read where one person didn't want FB back but it kept coming back on reboot. I suspect is was not really "coming back". The icon that auto-returns on my BB is just the item to select to D/L the FB app once you've removed it...

Yeah, I wish FB would update this app soon and improve on it. It is just horrible for the BB. I installed it once and it didn't work. Re-installed it and it worked, but drained the battery WAY too fast. I took it off for good and will only reinstall when I hear that it's functional and not a total battery killer.
