Default Broken Speaker

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I own a BB 8700g and as of late I have had some issues regarding the handsfree speaker as the device calls it (the one on the back through which the phone rings and the speakerphone sound comes through.)
The problem is that it still produces sound, but only when direct pressure is applied to the area of the case just below the speaker. Initially to solve this problem i just placed a folded piece of paper between the battery cover and the case and it worked for a short period of time. Now that fix does not place enough pressure on the area to get it to work without holding down myself. So the speaker does produce sound, but only when I am holding in such a manner that pressure is polaced on the area, which isnt exactly workable when it is in the holster and begins to ring. Has anyone here experienced this problem? I have had this phone for a long period of time and I am almost certain it is past warrenty and would like to know if anyone has any ideas as to why pressure to this area causes the speaker to work, and if anyone has any ideas for a more permanent fix?

Thanks for any assistence...
DG

Wirelessly posted (8700g 2007-04-07: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

How brave are you? It sounds like the contection is come unguled. You can take the back cover off and reconnet it. However if your not so brave call tmoblie tell them you are out of warrenty and ask for a replacement. They have replaced mine in the past for $70

I think this is a known issue... If you have had the BB for less than 12 months, call T-Mo and they will send you a replacement (refirb) for free (you pay shipping)

A word of caution though, if the device has damage or if the water sensors are activated they will charge you $100 out of warranty fee...

Yes that is true... Only options in your case would be to send it to a BB repair shop, sell it as damaged, and / or get a new one...
