Wirelessly posted

Of all time or currently?

By sales or "hype/publicity?"

I wasn't able to find any concrete data, but Pearls definitely should be tops on sales lists. I know organizations that have switched en masse to that from the older BBs and the Pearl was pretty much the first consumer oriented BB.

Hype wise I would say Storm is definitely big as it was marketed as a competitor to the iPhone.

You also have to realize that sales numbers dont always tell you everything. Sales numbers may show that modern BBs (Pearl, Curve, etc) might be more, but it also reflects a shift in the market (from strictly business to consumer and business as well).

The 8700 is still one of the most widely used devices worldwide. Corporations are still issuing it. My guess is the 8700 is still numero uno in total sales to date.

given that info, i would say the 8700, the pearl, curve, 8800. the newer (bold, curve, storm) havent really seen too much numbers-wise because they are so new

Their number of units sold has increased significantly in recent years so length of time on the market can be misleading.

For example for Fiscal year 2008 (ended last March) they sold 13.8 million units. The prior year was 6.4 million units. So double the prior year.

This year, the first 9 months, they've sold 18.2 million units. Just the last quarter (ended November) they sold 6.7 million units.

Those recent models could be some of the most popular in terms of units.

You're kidding right?

There are better sources of information than a bulletin board.

Go check the published research.

Agreed, try to find some peer reviewed articles, press releases, or perhaps even the official BB site.

There should be market data. Bear in mind that certain devices are only limited to certain carriers and that these carriers are selling other products. For example, I could not imagine an ATT Iphone user also having an ATT Bold.
