Question Certified BlackBerry Support Specialist

Please Login to Remove!

Ok so my company recently got all of us BES admins access to the RIM partner zone. We are able to take all the CBTs that are for these certs.

But I can’t find any information on the actual tests.
I’ve searched this forum and can only find like 2 posts about these none have the info i'm looking for.

Does any one know if these tests are like all other cert tests?
Do you take them at like pearson vue/prometric? Or do you have to go to a RIM location to take them?

Does anyone have a syllabus or required skills/knowledge list that this test tests?

Has anyone taken these RIM partnerzone CBTs and taken the test? Are these CBTs comprehensive enough to pass the test?

Thanks

None of the tests are available yet. They will make their debut at WES in Orlando. I believe you had a couple people down in Orlando last year (at least we met one person from your company at the Champions Sports Bar, I believe). You going to be present?

As for the CBTs, they cover a lot of stuff that I rarely, if ever, use in a production environment. I'm not sure if anyone has actually seen one of the final tests, so I'm not sure how valuable these CBTs will be. I can't imagine they'd hurt. And honestly, if you've been doing this for a while, I'd brush up on the CBTs and then combine the daily knowledge with the book knowledge and go from there. It's $150 for the certification, so what can it hurt to just try, ya know?

So you're a Helpdesk support, with Manager access then? Or you have complete and FULL BES access directly to all components. IF not then most of what you'll learn, you may not be able to perform when you run into a situation were you'll need that full access.

Pure and sound device. NOTHING like hands on experience; but it doesn't hurt to be educated and prepared.

Contact whoever got you access to PartnerZone and ask about getting manuals / documentation on the tests. My company took all 4 tests in the spring / fall last year, I would think RIM would have something to help you with studying if you really wanted it.

I would also be interested in seeing what materials RIM is offering for these tests. A quick search of google provided the below link. https://www.blackberry.com/Certifica...dback/index.do

I received a couple of PDF's from my RIM rep the other day for the certification at WES. Some of the information overlapped in each, but it was general stuff.

To begin preparing to attempt the Maintaining a BlackBerry Enterprise Server in a Microsoft Exchange environment exam at WES 2008 you should review the two attached documents:
1. The BlackBerry Certification Program Guide provides an overview of the program along with policies and procedures related to participating.

2. The Exam guide for the Maintaining a BlackBerry Enterprise Server in a Microsoft Exchange environment exam. This provides details specific to the exam, the exam objectives and a listing of training and resources that may help you prepare to attempt the exam.

I can send these doc to anyone who wants them or attach them to a post here. Each is smaller than 700k.

Alright... they are too large to post here. I'll get them up somewhere this afternoon. Need to think of the best place I can upload them to.

Viewings equal a drink at WES.

Since I don't drink, you can have mine. And, the Monday evening reception was open bar. Tuesday at Hard Rock was open bar. Wednesday at Verizon was open bar. I think I see a trend here.....

Here are the URL's:

19-00614-123_BlackBerry_certification_exam_Guide.pdf

BlackBerry_Certification_Program_Guide.pdf

It's not a ton of information, but it does give a general idea of the topics to be covered in preparing.

No Problem.

I just hope I can find enough of the information I need to pass. We've never had to do much maintenance with our BES, so much of the logging and using the Resource Kit are beyond me. We do not use our BES for anymore than Email and calendaring and being a public institution, do not utilize many of the lock down features (block BIS accounts, forcing BB Browser traffic, etc.). Time to starting reading the Admin Guide thoroughly.

Download the install / admin guides for both BES & the Resource Kit. I would bet that most of the content that you're not using on a regular basis would be on the exams

Default Leaked?

Any idea where these originated from? This is ideal, now I am all excited but have nothing to study and nothing to act on.

Study the install / admin / infrastructure guides. Yes, they're boring, but they include the stuff that you don't use on a regular basis but need to know for the exams.

DarthBBerry... I just skimmed through it and noticed this.

==============================================
BlackBerry Certified System Administrator
This certification is designed to validate the skills and knowledge of
technical professionals that install, configure, and manage the
BlackBerry Enterprise Server in large organizations.
To achieve this certification candidates must successfully pass one of the
following exams:
• Maintaining a BlackBerry Enterprise Server in a Microsoft
Exchange Server Environment
• Maintaining a BlackBerry Enterprise Server in a Lotus
Domino Environment

• Maintaining a BlackBerry Enterprise Server in a Novell
GroupWise Environment
For more detailed information on this designation, refer to the
BlackBerry Certified System Administrator exam guide that will be
located at BlackBerry - BlackBerry | Wireless Handheld Devices, Software & Services from Research In Motion (RIM) in the next few
months.
================================================== =======

So I am assuming that BES w/Domino Certs will be avaliable soon. Not just for Exchange.

I am also running on Domino 7.0.2 , BES 4.1.4

I haven't heard anything about the Domino certs ... I would recommend contacting RIM directly on this and seeing what they say.
