Well I was just saying.. Because this was made like back in 4.6 days?

Don't know if things would have changed in 5.0?

Maybe more cod files that could be removed in 5.0?

Just like how certain tutorials are updated from xp to vista to Win7...

You know..

This thread still applies to the countless users that are still rocking pre 4.6 devices like the original Pearl, Curve, 8800 and 8700.

This was actually made well before 4.6. Back in the 4.2 days and when 4.5 was first being introduced.

Most devices running 5.0 have plenty of memory and this could very well be a moot point, but maybe a mod could update it if they see fit.

So do you recommend this to users on 5.0?

Take a look at this post: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ml#post1283718

That is about the 8900, a device prior to 5.0, written by the same person that created this thread. His remarks are due to the amount of memory on the device.

I would have to agree with him. Many new devices have plenty of memory and there's really no need to follow the steps. However, this all depends on your needs. If you want a ton of apps/themes/etc on your device, then I would follow these steps to give you the memory you need to have those things on your device and still be able to function properly. YMMV.

Gotta thank you once again JC!

Just loaded 5.0 on my 8330 and I really did need to remove some CODs to get my file free back

sorry if i haven't followed this thread as closely, but does anybody have a relatively comprehensive list of which cod's corresponds to which applications (original and 3rd party)? i mean some of the stuff is pretty self explanatory, like voice activated dialing is "vad" or push to talk is "ptt", but what about the rest? thanks!

Default OS question

This guide looks like it will really help me, however I can't seem to find an OS that corresponds with my Options - About screen. Mine says:

BlackBerry TM 8100 Wireless Handheld (EDGE)
v4.2.1.108 (Platform 2.3.0.85)

Can anyone help?
