Default EDGE not coming on BB 8820

Please Login to Remove!

I've got an unlocked BlackBerry 8820, which was originally made for Orange UK. I'm trying to use it in India now with Airtel. I've an active blackberry connection that works fine with BB 8700G, but when I change it to 8820, I'm NOT able to see 'EDGE', but it shows 'edge'. I'm able to make calls and browse using 8820, but NOT able to set-up my email accounts.

I've also updated the device software version 4.5 from AT&T network, but still no luck.

I've submitted many requests for updation of Host routing table but it is still empty.

SIM security shows all options as disabled, including network.

Can any one please help?

1st: Make sure you have a Blackberry data plan. 2nd: Go to options> Mobile network> and make sure data is set to ON. 3rd: Go to options>Advanced options> Host routing table> left click and select "register now".

Lowercase "edge" means there is not BB connection with RIM.

1. Try a battery pull

2. Resend service books.

And to confirm, you have a BB data plan with Airtel and the device (the 8820) is properly activated with the carrier??

Thanks for the response. How do I send the service book?

1) I've airtel data plan, that works fine with 8700G.
2) options> Mobile network> data - ON
3) options>Advanced options> Host routing table - sent register request, but this is NOT getting populated, after many requests.

Airtel technical service says, as the same SIM card works with 8700G, it is NOT an issue from their side and issue with the 8820 instrument.

Does software reinstall on the BB help?

Make sure your data plan is a Blackberry data plan not a generic data plan. To send your service books login here: BlackBerry Internet Service
