Default Texting question (field full)

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys whats up? Well I got my Tour about 2 days ago and I'm still familiarizing myself with it, since this is my first BlackBerry. I have to say that the phone is very impressive and I wish I had gotten a BlackBerry sooner.

Well my question is, is there any way I can extend the characters when texting, because 160 seems to be the limit. I get this little pop up saying "Field Full." I tried searching but couldn't find what I was looking for.

Also, what does "Reconcile Now" do?

Thanks in advance

There are apps that have been mentioned to extend the txt limit beyone 160 but not sure how well they work. Reconcile will sync up your email server from your phone to the provider you are using. IE if you deleted messages on your email account on the web and it is still on your phone. You hit reconcile now and it will delete them off your BB.

Reconcile is only used on BES. For us regular old BIS users it is inert.

160 characters is a carrier TM limit, not a BB limit, AFAIK. Sounds like it might work with Verizon, but make sure you check it out first.

160 was the limit on Alltel and also on Verizon with a Blackberry.

Beyond160 works great. It still splits your message up into 160-character messages, sends them sequentially, but it does it transparently. Well worth it.

Another Beyond160 user here. I've used for a month now and it is the best well worth spending money app I've ever gotten.

Last time I tried sending a long TM like that, it was automatically broken up into 2 parts and I don't have the additional software. Granted, things may have changed since then however.
