Default 7100i wear and tear

Yes, I read the threads that the 8700 was not a status symbol and I realize it is just a phone and so forth and so on. However......

Does anyone else have a worn spot (or two) at the bottom of the screen area? I think on the other versions it was called the bezel. Not the very bottom corners of the screen but the next corner away from that, the farthest edge of the area that holds the screen. The paint is coming off of mine. It started out as just a dot and it is progressively growing. I can see that it is a clear lucite (like the older generation 1 and 2 iPods) that has been painted with a grey.

I use and have only used the leather Blackberry case made by RIM. I felt inside the case for a rough spot or something and there is nothing there. I can't understand it because there are little bumpers or raised areas on each side of the red and green phone buttons so I do not even so how something could rub that area.

Is mine the only one doing this?

Sorry, I can’t relate. Mine looks as if I just took it out of the box. No wear marks.

Well then what is the connection with the leather case???

It is a nice soft felt in there and the areas that are rubbed off of mine do not seem to touch anything. It is gettnig worse and worse too.....!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry7100i/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103)

I've got a couple spots like that on the left side of the screen on mine. I use the stock case for mine. I am willing to net the cause is that a small spec of dirt gets on the holster or side of the screen, and simple insertion and removal of the bb from the holster eventually wears away at the paint. Keep in mind, no matter how careful you are with it, you're not always removing it straight out of the holster, so in some cases you may be putting enough pressure on it in one way or another that it gradually wears away at the paint as well.

Well I know it sounds picky, but I can't imagine why they would use such a paint that would do that. I think the same problem occurred with the 7510s or whatever series and that was why they went with metal for the 7520. These appear to be doing the same thing.

I was messing around in the mall and went to a Cingular store and saw a 7100g. I think the surrounding area around the screen is a glossy black plastic that looked quite durable.

Oh well - I may have to go back to the stock canvas case if these areas on my screen continue to grow.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Don't quote me on this but I wonder if the oils in the leather may be reacting w/the paint maybe that's y the stock is canvas

Default No problemo here

Hey gang, no wear and tear on my BB --it's about 45 days old and 5 days into its life, I bought and are still using a BodyGlove knock-off that covers the entire phone except obvious areas for buttons & outlets (charging, headset).
