Default How do i find out whether my BB is locked

Please Login to Remove!

i got a new BB 7290 with no labels on it (cingula or AT&T) from Cingular through my job< when i powered it up it didn't have a cingular or AT&T logo displayed just the blackberry logo. I tried to insert a voice-sim card from TMoblie but it said invalid sim, an AT&T sim card works just fine>

The question is, what's the quickest way to check in the device at to whether it is carrier locked???

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7290/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/5.1.2.9)

OK, what if you do not have another SIM to test? I used to work for HP and had my AT&T account transfered to the business side. When I got my BB 7290 through AT&T, mine does not have any tags either. Is there another way to find out besides calling them?

Settings > Options > Sim Card
type meppd

This will expand the screen to show oll the different locks that can be enabled. If any of them show Active then your phone is locked. The carrier will normally use the Network lock.

When I got into OPTIONS, SIM CARD, this is what I see:

SIM Card Security DIsabled
ID: *****************
Phone Number: ***-***-****

There is NO PLACE to type in MEPPD!

Chris, there isn't a place to type it in. from that screen, just type MEPPD and it will expand the screen.
