Default Blackberry Plan, can you use SIM in a WM phone?

Please Login to Remove!

I want to change my plan over to a blackberry plan, but I switch phones A LOT. So, I am wondering, if I have a Blackberry plan on AT&T, can I swap my sim into a WM phone and still get data service? I know the phone part will work, but I want data service...thanks!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

You shouldn't get data! On a WM device with BB plan but you might try it

You can use the BB SIM in a WM phone and have data and voice capability, provided you have both on the BB. Won't get any of the BB features such as push email however.

Yea thats understandable, but data/voice is all I need on a WM device anyway.

One more question, is there an alternative email app for the blackberry that I can user with my WM plan for now? I have the blackberry, I'm using Operamini 4 which is working for internet, even GooglMaps is working, but I'd like to install an email app on here if possible. Thanks!

There's GMail and the stand-alone GMail app that should work, but of course for GMail only. You might be able to use Y!Go for Yahoo mail as well. But there are no third-party email clients that allow you to get regular mail on a Blackberry. You need a Blackberry data plan to get mail on your Blackberry through the regular built in email program.

You can add the BB client to your WM device, not sure what BIS version you'll be on but it will probably need you to change the device PIN on you're BB web setup. WM connection handling at carrier level is poor though and you may find you need to suspend the client before you can use the WM devices default connection
