Getting your Blackberry To use your T-MobileWeb (the new T-Zones)

This is the big one. Everyone would love to get away with only paying $5 for what they were paying $20 or $30 for.
The trick is to set the T-MobileWeb APN and Proxy in the "Options" (or "Settings" in the newer blackbery" then find "TCP" from the list

Enter the following information
APN: wap.voicestream.com
Username & Password: {Blank}
Gateway IP: 216.155.165.50:8080 {This is where the HTTP Proxy goes}

This last line is usually what's missing if your blackberry has been set (or was at one point set) to an "Enterprise Server", usually called BES, or using MDS.
These are all settings for people with blackberry's with connections to IT departments in their companies, or renting that kind of service from a Blackberry Email provider.
You need to find a way to get your Blackberry to be setup as if it's just you and not you with a corporation. Contact your provider for more details about this if you do not understand the meaning of this.

I have been experimenting with my Blackberry 7280 which unfortunately was originally setup with BES and I have not been able to reset it.
Installing a new firmware has not changed this, and "blanking out the security policy" has not helped.
If you find that you DO have the Gateway IP: in your "TCP" option then you are ready to go.
If you can't find your web Browser in your list of applications CLick on the ALT key, then press the BACK botton on the side of the device. It will be in that list, if not upgrade yourself to a 4.xxx firmware from any provider

how do i enable it on my pearl in the TCP settings? I'm not on a BES, and my pearl was never on a BES

Where did you find this? I haven't seen anything like this... if you could be paying 5 bucks instead of 20 I'm sure everyone would have heard it by now...

Eh... it doesn't make sense to me because of the configurations, even though you have a gateway/ip to input the plan goes through RIM servers and not T-mobile's web servers... hoax? I'm not believing it until someone confirms it.

That would enable you to use T-mobile WAP (presuming the IP is T-mobiles wap gateway, if a RIM IP it would just never connect), it wouldn't entitle you to RIM services. In the absence of the setting you would need a browser you can proxy from within it's own settings ala PalmOS Blazer.

well, according to that, if you could enable the gateway ip address, and put in tmobile's proxy there, 216.155.165.50:8080, you can without a blackberry plan, send and recieve MMS, use the built in browser.

push services won't work, but as a regular phone with a standard wap browser, it'll work.

I mean, even opera mini on a blackberry will work right now with only the $5.99 tmobile web plan without BIS/BES. Jivetalk works also with a BB plan either, just needs $5.99 plan

i came upon this website when i was searching on google.

and basically it looks like somekind settings thing for blackberry like the blackberry.alx or platform.alx file, except it might be something else.

and somewhere in the middle it has this:

so i think there's a file in the installtion of the OS that sets all those. So like if you download tmobile or cingular upgrade OS, it might actually be defaulted to that and service books change it if you switch carriers, this is what i'm thinking.

just need to find out what that is exactly
