Default 8800 GPS Maps not showing UK

Please Login to Remove!

When I go into the blackberry maps all I see is green diagonal line.
I am picking up satellites... But the options state 0.0kb have been downloaded.

Any advice?

I'm having the same problem. Who's your carrier? I'm with O2. My colleague with an 8800 on Vodafone is having the same problem. I don't have the device OS to do a reinstall and apply the LBS.alx fix as noted on one of the threads (not available on their support page yet). See the thread I raised recently (OS v4.2.1.73 vs. v.4.2.1.72). Sorry can't be of much help yet.

UK maps are there. Have you entered APN and TCP settings for your carrier if you are not on BES.

I am with Vodafone and have no problems in downloading maps with BlackBerry maps.

Possibly a silly question - but have you gone to options and clicked on start GPS?

By default does it go through the BB browser or the Services browser?

HI,

Can any of you explain to me the charge for using GPS service from Blackberry 8800? It seems that every time I use it, I am also using GPRS.

And the problem is when I try to use the maps, it appears to be the map of US. I try to download UK maps from Blackberry website but it said it did not support. Does it mean that UK maps are not available?

I am quite new to this GPS thing, so please help me understand this.

I am currently using BB 8800 with O2.

Go into your applications list and click through the menu to edit permissions and then when you see the menu items reset firewall prompts try that.

BBMaps caches some data on the handheld but generally speaking you need to DL maps over the air, which requires data usage

I am with Vodafone too, went to BlackBerry 8800® Smartphone Wireless Handled Device | Sleek Design with High Performance Features and went through to blackberry maps when it loaded, it said connect device, whcih i did. accepted the disclaimer, entered the device password and it said "device is not supported" . huh ??? any ideas ? everythingon the device seems fine.

noticed the it said the blackberry maps work with device manager 4.1 and the OS on my device is 4.2.x, could this be the cause ?

I have the same problem as ldoherty. Is it because the Maps that I downloaded from BlackBerry does not include Singapore too?

Hi, there is a software update for Vodafone UK on blackberry.com/SoftwareDownload/sup.jsp?client=Z2fedFddN
load this to your 8800

Go into advanced options and change the APN to internet (not internet.com)
and the two passwords blank

restart your handheld
in advanced options start GPS

Youy should hopefully see your maps now

Hi,

You gave a link with a session cookie which has expired!

I have been battling with this GPS and diagonal lines thing since last week - it is crazy!

If you can let me know the steps (links clicked) to get to the update that would be fantastic!

btw: only advice I have so far from Vodafone BB support is to do a hard reset on the 8800 (yeah - sure)

Hi Morph,

Can't help with the link m8, but as Mark said earlier, having an incorrect APN set in Options, Advanced,TCP will result in the scenerio you are describing. Worth checking this. This must = the APN Voda provides for internet usage, Mas says " internet "

cheers
