Re: Track Location(GPS) of a lost BB via BlackBerry® Administration Service
My tracking history shows me, that the phone does not update the location when there is no reception. The value I read in the sql table of the BES stays at the last point where the phone was able to determine its location. Data is accurate every 15 mintes.
But regarding to the original Question:
if you have not turned on Enterprise location tracking, it wont help to turn it on afterwards, because besides the obvious (battery down, phone will be reset to factory asap by anyone who wants to keep it), Enterprise location tracking requires the user of the handheld to confirm that he will be tracked. This is no longer possible when lost.
You can call your wireless provider, give him the IMEI of the phone (you find on BAS in the properties of the phone). They should be able to block the IMEI, so at least the phone is useless for someone who wants to steal it. Of course there are ways to change the IMEI even of a blackberry.
The only thing you currently can do is, if the phone still is running, lock it, and put a message on the screen: please bring me back to home, adress: ....
