Exactly!
FileConnection is used to select the mp3 or midi file.
I have reports about 8700 running this app. I think they have BB OS 4.2 that support FileConnection

I'm getting this error on my 7105t...any way to fix it to make it more compatible for the 7***?

It plays MP3 files that are in /home/user/ringtones but will not play any ringtones selected from /samples/ringtones. Any ideas if it's a permissions issue or what?

It might be DRM? For instance you can't copy any of the ringtones from the phone to your media card, RIM has it locked down. I wonder if a 3rd party app has issues playing them if it isn't signed with the certificate? (I don't think MyAlarm is signed, but I could be wrong)

I've considered that, but the app merely needs to play the tunes, not copy them. Is the same level of access required to play and copy? If so, does this mean that a signed app can copy ringtones? That could be interesting.

In every OS I've worked with, your three basic permissions are read, write, and execute. In order to play an audio file, all you need to be able to do is read the file. Likewise, in order to a copy a file, all you need to be able to do is read it. Allowing third-party applications the ability to play a file (read), you are giving them the ability to copy it.

why cant you easily change alarm mp3 tones?
when you choose one, you have to go back to tones: BEEP/AUDIO FILE to change mp3,
you should be able to just scroll down to the PATH and click on path to bring up the directory
the way it's now is not intuitive

Why can't you say "please"?

great program installed this on the 8300 an works great...
Just not a big fan of having this run in the background... if you close it then it will not go off... Like the bb alarm that just displays an icon but does not run in the background that would be a nice feature if you can make it happen... thanks

also,
it would be nice if it had a SNOOZE FEATURE
the way it could work would be, you choose 5 minute, 7 minute, 10 min, or whatever
and if you key in 5 numbers of the 10 digit code, it would go into SNOOZE
because, sometimes, key in the 10 digit code and go back to sleep,
what do you guys think of a snooze function like this?

I could like the snooze suggestion on this great program. And I also like Jetspeedz's suggestion as well. Otherwise, an easy to use app I'd recommend to anyone.

You are correct. I was able to make copies of all the ringtones and now MyAlarm has no problem reading them.

It depends on the OS version on your BlackBerry -- the program uses a a feature (technically, an API) that is not available in OS 4.1 that you may be running; it requires OS 4.2 or above to work. The specific reason(s) are outlined in all the previous posts.
