I have searched the forums and can't seem to find this one...

Is there a shortcut key that allows me to mark an email read?

I want to zip through them and mark them read without having to open them.

Right now, I seem to have to open and close them to mark them read.

You can mark all mails as read though. Go to the date click menu and select mark prior read

There are times I want to mark the messages unread that are read also.

I know that you can do it with the menu but would like to know if there is a shortcut.

Try Alt u. It'll mark emails read / unread.
