Default A2DP performance

Please Login to Remove!

Can anyone report on the ability to multi-task while streaming audio via A2DP? This is the most annoying thing with WM phones-- when you are streaming, forget about doing much else. Even typing a simple message takes forever because the processing power is being eaten up by the streaming of the audio.

How does the Curve hold up when streaming music wirelessly?

Squeezed life out of my headphones - Ive got the music running thru bluetooth and I can send email easily and can also use Jivetalk with no noticable lag. All good stuff!

My headset is only a Motorola HT820 but even the volume and track skipping buttons on the headset works with the ad2p. When I used it with the Sony W950 and skipped a track it dropped the bluetooth connection and played the song thru the handset.

None of that here!!

THis is NOT A2DP! Not with a MONO 1 Ear headset! I'm sure you used a NON full A2DP profile stereo 2 ear BT Headset with your SE W950 unit.

Get a TRUE stereo Headset suppporting full A2DP on BT v2.0 & the following BT Profiles:
- A2DP-Sink
- AVCTP
- AVDTP
- AVRCP-Controller
- AVRCP-Target
- GAP
- GAVDP
In addition to:
- Headset-HS!

Then once tested THEN tell me that the BB8300 supports A2DP. I may be wrong but I have YET to see something official from RIM claiming A2DP support.

PS notice how RIM hasn't even tried for new BT Radio profile support & authentication since 2006?!!!

I saw this on of the feature pages for the Curve on rim.com

BlackBerry - BlackBerry Curve 8300 smartphone

Bluetooth® capability for hands-free dialogue via headsets and car kits - mono/stereo headset, hands-free and serial port profile supported. Bluetooth stereo audio (A2DP/AVCRP)

Then why does it say that it supports A2DP on this RIM website??

"The audio system is crisp and clear, playing music and videos through the handset's integrated speaker or through the 3.5 mm stereo jack. The Bluetooth stereo audio profile (A2DP/AVRCP) is supported, and dedicated volume controls are conveniently located on the side of the handset."

(Qoute taken from
Research In Motion)

When connecting the headset to the Curve via the bluetooth the Curve reports the following sucessful connections...

handsfree
stereo audio
av remote control

The Motorola HT820 is not a mono earset - its a stereo bluetooth headset

Motorola HT820 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones - Specifications - Motorola US

The Sony W950 was an awful music player which was returned very quickly

Maybe you could give us some feedback on how you are finding the Curve's performance when streaming stereo musice via the bluetooth connection?

(btw - please dont use capitals at me - some people take it as shouting)

Just wondering; after all this great stereo talk, does the BB still do secure, end to end encrypted e-mail? Or isn't that important anymore?

Huh? OK, witty. Now can we get back to the Bluetooth Stereo capabilities of this device? I know I'd like to know more.

I guess it would if you wanted it too but it seems more important to have a great sound system and 2mp camera to today's Blackberry users.

We are dinosuars! Blackberry is not all about email anymore.

I keep forgetting that.
Obviously my 1800 internal customer with BlackBerrys don't get it either.

Back to Bluetooth Stereo.

Once you master one area further improvements just arnt too noteworthy. If your only requirement is BB email there are a plethora of available devices for that. Some people want more than just BB email from their device (like stereo BT, GPS, wifi etc), but you can bet that if the core email function was ever degraded you would start hearing more about it.

Thank you very much for the lesson and lecture.
I feel much better - and more enlightened - now.

Save it.
