Hi There,

I have just recently just baught a Blackberry Storm 9500 (Unlocked) my dad has excalty the same phone and i wanted to add him to my Blackberry Mesanger

But, when i send a request to him it just says pending, and when i go on his phone to accept it hasn't come through. The phone is meant to vibrate or ring when a request comes through and neither of the phones are doing this Help needed what could i do to add him ? i have updated my phone the the latest software but still wont let me add him.

Is it because i have baught it unlocked or is it because my service provider is 02 ? please help

Aarron,

It has nothing to do with being unlocked. Unlocked affects nothing other than controlling what carriers the device is usable on.

Delete the pending request.

Now, reboot your Blackberry, with a powered ON, battery removal. Replace to reboot.

Now, add your Dad's back in, using the PIN of his device (can be found at Options > Status).

Is your Dad's device on a corporate BES account? Sometimes companies will block BBMessenger use.

Thanks We have tried this and we still cant accept each others Pins :( is there anyway around this ?

Do you have the PIN's stored in each others address books? Are you 100% certain that you are adding via PIN number (and that it is typed in correctly) and not using and email address? Also, you both do have Blackberry Data plans correct?

No We have not clue what BES means we baught the phones hoping to be able to talk to each other via BB Messenger but when i add his pin on his phone its not comming through to accept

any ideas how we can add each other ?

See my post right above your last one. Regarding BES...is your Dad's phone provided through work? If it is and he receives work email on it then it's most likely on BES and his company may have disabled the ability to BB Messenger. If it's through work have him call the IT Department and ask.

If you are certain that the number you are typing is correct then see the link below. It's possible that your Dad's device was on a BES before and still contains a policy that prevents it.

Do you both subscribe to BlackBerry Data Service through your wireless carrier?

(or IT Policy) on your device. A quick check to see if this is the case can be done by going to Options/Security on your Device

how would i know what is a IT Policy?

we have figured out how to get to it just what is a IT Policy ?

this is your problem. You must have a Blackberry Data Plan to be able to use BB Messenger as it relies upon the RIM servers. No BB data plan, no BBM.

An easy way to trouble shoot this will be if you or he can send the other a PIN message, from the Messages folder > Menu key > Compose PIN.

Enter the other's PIN, send the message. Does the other receive it?
