Downloaded BBLocal on my 8700c but when I go to the site it asks for a login. I went to new user to create one but I get "Uncaught exception: java.lang.illegalArgumentException" . Any ideas? Can I set up an account via my PC and regular internet?

Do you have java support enabled? go to the browser, click on the wheeel and then go to options choose browser settings and then change them to on. Also make sure that you have IE emulation set.

Default Google Local rule! BBLocal and Hello World SUCK!

Google Local is FREE and FAST. No registration required. Supports Map View and Satellite view.

BBLocal and Hello World requires registration, you have to pay, it's buggy and it they are slow!

Obviously, the smart will go with Google Local over other map tools that you have to pay that is not even worth paying because they are buggy.

Bottom line is, why pay for something that is already brokened????

Did that this morning. Last night was my company's belated Christmas party and I woke up somewhere in Oakville. GLM got me home.

They must have added support for more versions. Because I just went to the download link in my 7520 and it automatically identified my device as a V4 7520.

I LOVE Googel maps, I loaded it on my device this week and my Wife's BB this morning. The only thing I don't like is you can't look up an address in your address book and get a map to/from it.

oops, "Network Unavailable, Downloading maps & info depends on a network connection. ......" Suprising enough. I was so happy to find the version for 7520 but got the same error message as when I downloaded the one for 7290. Any idea about how to fix the problem -- I am on BES. Thnx!

Seems to works just fine on my Telus Handset.

Is there a way to push down Google Local throught BES Over the Air? All I can find is the JAD, which from what I understand you can not push down throught BES. Is there a .alx and .cod version of Google Local?

Hmm, well.... This sounds like fun.

The website says "Google Local for mobile doesn't currently work with Nextel, T-Mobile...." and it doesn't list the BB 7230.

What the heck...I tried downloading the 7290 version and it seems to work on my 7230 BB from T-Mobile just fine, if just a little slow in showing the tiles or zooming.

Google Maps/Local on an 8700 with EDGE works like a dream.. almost refreshes in real time like PC's on DSL...

makes 7290's look like dirt. =)

UPDATE: 7290's upgraded to OS 4.1 IMPROVES performance of GLM by 10-20%! Scrolling the map is much improved!

WARNING: if you use GLM on a 8700! I used up about 3 megs of data in 5-10 minutes!!!

it would be SUPER easy to go over the 25 meg 'soft cap' on Rogers if you relied on this software.. just another reason Rogers should be lifting that cap, it's now rediculous..

What happened to Mark's "Rogers Unlimited is not Unlimited" thread? was it deleted?

Still not getting any joy on a T-Mobile 7100t. You folks who are getting it to work - do you have your APN set to wap.voicestream.com? Or something else?
