Theres no option on PIN message to choose 'a contact'?????!!!!!!!

Cant forward a pin message to a new contact
Cant even start a new pin a choose 'a contact'

I have to open the contact 1st and then choose 'send pin' - then type message from scratch

Just how crap is that??????????

What makes it even worse is that PIN messaging is BB exclusive to help promote/sell the brand in an ocean full of mobile phones

There's lot of areas 'under development' where the odd bug can creep in, but only a total donkey could let that slip through their fingers

Not sure what your talking about. I just did it fine.

In the messages folder, blackberry key > compose pin. On the "to:" line, just started typing a name and it worked.

Do your contacts have PIN numbers included with their contact information? Works fine for me the way devnull described.

You have an odd way of looking at things. Yes, it is a BB exclusive and works very well between BBs. Designed to only work with BBs? Yes. Helps to promote the brand? Maybe. And if so, why not?

Ill have to use that method

Usually just click 'to' and choose 'contact list'
That's not available on Pin messages

So? Don't use PIN messaging then. It's not a requirement. I used BBs for several years and almost never used PIN messaging -- couldn't convince the rest of my team to even try it although we ALL have BBs. Kept trying to get them to at least try every few months. Finally gave up. So we just use text messaging or email.

But you should hear all the people on the iPhone forums belching because the iPhone doesn't have PIN messaging/BB messenger.

On 9700/5.0.0.714 I see same menu for email as I do for PIN when I click in the To field.
I seem to remember a time when I could open the address book from the To line to either select a contact or enter a one-time address, but that was so long ago I'm not 100% sure I remember it correctly. The present convention of simply typing a name and selecting from the drop down list is an improvement.

Doing it your way is going backwards and seems inefficient to me. It seems RIM agrees.

No. Here is the more appropriate analogy: Imagine wanting to push start your Lexus instead of using the ignition. You're used to doing that with your old Detroit product, and you want to do it with your Lexus. How stupid of Lexus not to think of customers like you.

I specifically replied to your complaint that PIN messaging is exclusive to BBs. (Which is why I only quoted that specific part of your message.) Either I don't get this part of your complaint or you are being inconsistent.

Are you complaining about the exclusivity on the part of RIM or on the part of other manufacturers? It's only between BBs so either use it and only communicate with other BB owners or decide not to use it. If it doesn't work because too many people don't have BBs then use something else. It's a choice you need to make. This "exclusivity" is not a new thing and is something you would have (or should have) known before you bought the BB.

Seems like YOU are the one who thinks "one size fits all" is required when you complain about the exclusivity.

I really don't care if you use it or not. But I just don't understand what you are complaining about here on this specific point.
