Question Coming back to BB :)

Please Login to Remove!

Aftter a few months I've decided to dump my iPhone and go for the BB Torch.

I used to have the BB Curve 3G.

What is the battery life like for the Torch?
and
How good is the Music playback for it?

Many Thanks guys...

Battery life depends on how much you use it. I keep mine topped up when I am near power so I never really don't have problem. I can go about a full day without charging with how I use it - email, moderate amount of calls, a little Internet.

Can't commit on music playback since I use an iPod/iPad for that.

I too came back to the Torch from a iPhone 3GS. I mainly use it for e-mail and calls, not used at all for browsing as I have access to computers as well as my iPad almost all the time. With that said I have 3G turned off and average 3 days between charges. I leave the Torch in a Seidio case which has the magnet to put it in sleep mode most of the time. All and all I am very happy with the device!

Honestly if you're coming back, please wait a few months... the new lineup of Torch2, Bold 9900 (9930 with no camera) will be better than anything right now.

... oh, and welcome back

After I upgraded to .526 I had serious battery usage problems. I couldn't make it through the day without plugging in. I read a post here that "Enable Compression" should be unchecked on the Media Card settings. (Options->Device->Storage). Turning this off made all the difference in the world. Most evenings I still have 40% or better now.

As others have said - battery life varies with your usage. And it also varies somewhat with different operating system releases. After reading a lot, it seems that .448 or .546 are probably the best OS versions right now.

One things for sure though - with any given usage pattern, battery life will be much improved from what you experienced with the iPhone.

Similarly, I think that very few will argue that the music play experience with iPhone is better than it is with any BlackBerry. The multimedia capabilities of the iPhone are its strongest suit. The phone/email/text messaging capabilities of the BlackBerry are its strong suit. Different strokes for different folks.

That's odd. My recipe for a perfect Torch is...

1. Remove battery
2. Plug in to DM
3. Update it (which wipes it blank and lays down bare minimums)
4. Install only the applications that you need (no language packs, for instance, and nothing you get from the App World)
5. Install Protect.
