Question HTML Table Support (Again!)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I've been experiencing problems rendering HTML tables to the 8700 and 8800
(Vodafone) model.

Do the displays on these models support the rendering of tables? Should you be able to see tabulated items with borders?

Thanks
Jim

What version of the operating system do they have on them?

Default OS Version

In the About Box it says:

Blackberry 8700
Wireless Handheld (EDGE)
v4.1.0.351 (Platform 2.0.0.143)

Should this version be able to support tabulation and borders?

Thanks
Jim

This is the exerpt that I found in the Browser developer's guide for the 4.1 browser found here: Livelink - Redirection

Tables: The browser supports tables. Users can enable HTML table support to properly display tables that fit
within the screen width of the device. Larger tables are split apart with the table cells displayed in vertical
sequence. Tables cannot be nested within each other.
You should test tables thoroughly in the BlackBerry Browser to verify that they display appropriately on the device.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the info. I don't know whether it's RIM's site layout or my brain but I can never seem to find these documents.

Its a tad frustrating that the Browser manual puts the responsibility of delivery on the device. I appreciate BBs are distributed by different vendors but it would be nice to have some standardisation!

Heck, how are you mean't to produce generic software for all!

I think I'm going to have to stream my database figures through a placeholder to simulate tabulation!
