Yes, I know, I can shut data off, but then my BB mail won't work either;
or I can use a 3rd party app (which I do), but it doesn't work that good to say the least.

So there you have it. I really hate that.
I wish there was a way to easily shut down selective email accounts that are set up in your BB at a flip of a switch, and then turn them back on at another flip of a switch.
That would be awesome.

edit:

I absolutely hate that my 9700 was constantly dropping calls, getting poor reception, call fails when dialing out, conversations going in and out, for about one month. I exchanged my phone and had the same problem. I lost a lot of time because of this and it even cost me some work. No one knew what the problem was at Tmob. I was ready to smash the phone at one point. Finally, about one week ago, I called Tmob again and got the smart one. He told me I should shut off wifi and see if that solves the problem. Well, it did.

So, I hate that I can't leave wifi on. Many times I am covered by a private network with much faster speeds, so now I always have to turn wifi on and off. It is a bit annoying.

Other than that, I am absolutely convinced that this is the best phone in the world at the moment.

I figured out my IHeart radio problem has to do with bluetooth. If I use a wired headset it seems to stream just fine but it really struggles with my bluetooth headset...

My hates:
-keys WAY to small for my thumbs, like the curve keys more
-most keys are a bit stiff
-space key is dull with no firmness (no return feel) makes it hard to know if pressed without key volume on
-freezes on me for a few seconds quite often
-display for caller id shows last caller instead of new current caller sometimes!

Love:
- most everything else about it
-very quick
-browsing is heads and shoulders above all other BB's
-very nice sizw and feel overall

Generaly speaking, this is a great unit, and I think I can live with it for a couple years at least.

Default It should've been...

released with the same size and form factor of the 9000. Perhaps RIM might release one with the increased memory of the new "tour" and of course, w/6.0. until then: the 9700 will just have to suffice -

Honest? Nothing... I think it is by far the best device I've ever owned.

There are so many problems with the 9700.

The back battery case keeps coming down when im using the keyboard, which is shit anyway.

It drops many calls and constantly freezes up. There isn't enough application memory.

Its actually rubbish and I regret buying mine.

I've only had mine for exactly one month (third BB device, though) and I'm not finding anything to hate yet. It's way less buggy than my 8110, have not yet had to do a battery pull -- weekly and sometimes daily with the 8110. Keyboard is not quite as nice as the 8110 but I'm making far less errors with the small qwerty keys than with SureType's wacky interpretations, so text input is pretty fast.

So far I have only used the phone in Australia and Malaysia. I've only dropped it twice to date (yeah, I know, butterfingers) and am pleased to see that the casing integrity is as good as I've come to expect from RIM devices.

How are you out of memory already?

I've kept all my stuff since 2006 (e-mails forever, txt msg etc etc) and I still have a good 100mb left on my 9700. I'm not app crazy, I do have BBM, yahoo messenger, AIM, google maps, all the original games, plus maybe 3 extra apps.

I don't see myself running out of memory anytime soon, I'd give it maybe a year when they really start developing stuff, like how it always seems that programs/apps seem to use more and more space, and i'm sure 6.0 will effect it as well. Like when BBM 5.0 came out, it went from like 600kb to like 3mb, same with the 2.0+ AIM and Yahoo messenger, they used to be small, and are now about 2mb.

You got to remember, 256mb is about what android phones are running now these days.

256mb ain't bad, but i wouldn't complain if they decide to give us more seeing how everything is java based on blackberry.

I absolutely love my 9700. It does everything so smoothly and competently. I hardly ever reboot it (and then only when removing apps), it's fast, and everything works well.

The only minor issues I can think of:
* The keyboard isn't quite as nice as the Bold 9000's; I do have fat fingers though.
* (This may be an OS 5 issue) The media player's default option on clicking on a playlist is to open it. I want to play the damn thing, not view the songs in it. I wish I could set "shuffle" as the default click option on playlists.

From the BB website

"Enhance the 256 MB of on-board
flash memory by easily inserting
a microSD card2. Create extra
room for emails, messages, apps,
multimedia files, documents and
all the other important things
that you want to take with you.
"

It says there is room for apps which would be great if true.

Anyway it is more than my 8310 so it seems the 9700 is the one for me to upgrade now

You should look into getting the charging pod, which I use for this exact reason. There's a soft light behind the pod's slot which helps you place it down in the dark, and once the phone is in the pod, the light is deflected by the device. Currently selling for $9-10 at a number of online merchants.

I'm not out of memory YET, but the apps that I'm running eat a LOT of memory. Epocrates (clinical application) is more than 9 MB alone, add other professional and social applications, and I'm down to less than 90 MB free.

May be its subjective, and has nothing to do with amount of free memory, but I noticed that the bb runs slower, takes longer time to switch between apps and to respond to commands. And I'm running 5.0.0.656.

9700 is definitely a huge improvement over the 8310. However, I do not beleive that you can run apps from the SD card. It woudl be very nice if it was possible, though...

I've just upgraded from the Bold 9000 and so far I'm loving the 9700. The only thing I'm not enjoying is the keyboard. The keyboard on the 9000 had a much nicer action and needed a lot less effort to type on. Hopefully it's something I'll get used to.

1. Keyboard to small Bold 9000 was perfect.
2. Track-pad is poor and inaccurate (bring back the trackball)
3. UMA is random and mainly just doesn't work.
4. GPS is very slow and takes a long time to find satellites.

I preferred the 8900 keyboard. The 9700 is a bit stiffer. LOVE the trackpad.

The GPS on my 9700 locates satellites much faster than my 8900.

If you still have mini USB chargers and data cords look on Ebay for USB Mini to Micro adapters. They're cheap and you can use your old cords.

wehn i pull it out of the holster to read a text or email, then close out of the screen, there is still a little red star over the icon.

how when a new sms comes in, when im in the inbox, and it wont let me open it unless i go into the compose and find the contact in my address book, select them, and it opens it up.
