Default Quick advice needed!Need to use 8330 on plane... but want all the radio functions off

Please Login to Remove!

So I'm traveling and I want to listen to music I have on my 8330. Does the "off" feature turn off all e-mail/phone/vm/radio ? By off I mean the one under "profiles"

Yes! Find the Manage Connections icon, and you can turn off the mobile network there. When you do that, it will show an X where the bars usually are.

Whoops, looks like you edited your question. Choosing Off in the profiles does not turn off the wireless radio.

Profiles only affect the alerts. They do not alter any functionality. Think of them like the sound themes (though alerts can be vibrate or LED as well) on your PC. Changing the sound theme doesn't change, for example, your network settings or anything other than the sounds.

Manage Connections is what you want. Turn them all off before you turn off your BB before takeoff. When you next power it off all the wireless connections should still be off.

Jumping in here...I am going on vacation too, out of the country and do not want to incur international data prices. I get a boat load of emails from my BES account. Can I turn off data but still be able to use the phone? It seems if I turn my phone off and I would just turn it on for a phone call, ALL of my emails would flood in. Am I thinking correctly?

You didn't say where you were vacationing, but if it's outside of North America (like overseas), there's not much point bringing an 8330 with you. It's a CDMA phone, and most of the rest of the world uses GSM.

In Canada and Mexico you will incur international roaming charges for both voice and data unless you choose "Options | Mobile Network" and set "Data Services" to Off (or Off when Roaming). Then roaming will be limited to voice only.
