Default Forum Chat?

I am not sure if we used to have this or not, but I think it would be cool to have one of the live chats on the forum.

I am not sure of the risks of having these, but I think it would be cool for those of us bored and just feeling like socializing.

Has this been considered before?

Thank you for reading this!

It's been considered and talked about, but general consensus was it would only invite more spammers and such at a level that would be too much to even moderate, and possible draw more flak from users getting into arguments and such.

Plus as the tendency with most chatrooms it would most likely be 10% blackberry related and 90% A/S/L posts going on.

That said, it has been mentioned that if users wish to chat they are welcome to setup an IRC chatroom or AIM or whichever medium you like, but it will not be sponsored, moderated or endorsed by BBF staff and admin.

How can a girl as pretty as you be bored? You need to move to a real town.

Why not use IRC and use a java webclient for the site? IRC offers great anti-spam protection. I could possibly set something up on a free server and get the web admins the java applet for the site. I think it would be useful, and people would use both, specially since there is a IRC app for blackberries :P.

If admins want info on it all just send me a pin

Here is the problem with a chatroom, Any sort of blackberry problems that are asked and answers are documented here in a post/thread. Which allows for that question to be searched for by both google and the search available here on the site.

Its a great concept for a site thats sole intention is to provied a social community, but not for a source of information.

I definitely see everyone's take on this.

If I knew how IRC worked I would look into it. Ha.

Soapm...thank you for the compliment. Ha. San Antonio is awesome, but growing up here gets it boring. Not like I am finding any dates. Ha.
