Default email rules folders

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All

I trust this place to give me an answer quicker and more accurately than my IT guy

In my Outlook inbox on my PC I have a few "rules" sending emails from particular people over to folders. Now it seems I only recieve the emails that go to my inbox on my 8310 and not the ones that are diverted over to the folders.

I presume there are some easy setting changes that are required but i can't find them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

If you're on a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server), you can redirect any MAIL folder under your Mailbox as follows:
  1. Go into Messages, then hit the [Menu] button and select Options
  2. Select Email Settings
  3. If you have a line that says Message Services, make sure it's set to Desktop (if you have Message Services but don't have Desktop you can quit right now - you're not on a BES and can't reconcile any folder except your Inbox*)
  4. Click the [Menu] key and select Folder Redirection
  5. Your should see - Desktop at the top, and + Mailbox - .... below that. Highlight Mailbox, hit [Menu] and select Expand
  6. You should see Inbox with a check mark next to it. The check mark indicates the folder is being redirected to your BlackBerry.
  7. To redirect email arriving at other folders, scroll to the folder and hit [Space] to check the box next to it. If you see a + to the left of the folder's box, it means there are sub folders under it. Highlight the line and select [Menu] --> Expand to see the subfolders
  8. Hit [Esc] and select Save when done
Now all email arriving at folders that you checked will also be sent to your BlackBerry. Note that there are special (Exchange generated) Mail folders that can not be redirected - most frustratingly Drafts, but there are others too.

* - I'm not familiar with a true IMAP setup. I have my Gmail accounts set up as IMAP accounts, but Google doesn't have folders - it uses Labels instead, so there is no possibility of folder redirection. If you have a standard IMAP account set up, the above may work for it too - just don't know!

Thanks Jerry, your a star!

Whilst I'm at it changing settings, how do I stop an email or SMS opening as soon as I remove the device from the holster?

If you wait 15 seconds or so after the email arrive before you remove the phone from the holster, the message will not auto open.

The phone's programming assumes that if you pull the phone out as soon as you receive the message that you WANT to read it. This is a convenience feature.
