hey ya'll!

i need to know, is there a reason to reset the device once in a while, just to make sure it doesn't run slower than usual...

and if there is a reason, and it is something you do, how do i do it? (i know there's a hard reset, soft, double soft) and does it erase anything on the BB ?

pulling the battery is known as a soft reset or hard rest depending on who you ask.
This frees up application memory, stops your device from running slowly.
you do not lose anything
and is always the first thing to try when there is a problem.

by the way, there's something i don't get.. on the display there are 3 different symbols, one has my email written under, one says "messages", and the other one says "sms and multimedia". what's the difference between the two of the three? i get the same information on the "messages" and on email symbol. what gives?!

the MESSAGES icon is a "catch all" box. this includes emails and sms/mms IF they are set to combined.
the email icon with your email address on it, is just for that email. and most people hide it, as the MESSAGES icon shows them too.
If you have the SMS/MMS icon, then that will catch only SMS/MMS and the MESSAGES icon will catch email, call logs, browser messages etc etc.

Hard reset- as said above pull the battery
soft reset- Hold alt+right shift (caps)+del
double soft reset- do a soft reset, then when the white screen shows up press the 3 buttons again.
