Question Using Full BES 4.0 SRP identifier to unlock 4.1 BES trial download

Please Login to Remove!

Quick question:

If someone downloads BES v4.1 30 day trial and then uses the SRP identifier and SRP Key from a new version of 4.0, will it not permantely unlock your BES software?

I would assume that the Srp identifier from 4.0 should work and you would have v4.1 features, as that is what you downloaded from the RIM site.

Also, would 3.6 CALS for SBE work on SBE v4.1?

As far as I know, the various versions of BES are not SRP or CAL-specific for their respective versions. Personally, we've been using the same SRP since 3.6.0 and now on 4.1.0. It won't be able to run 4.0 and 4.1 at the same time, though, as it'd lock out the SRP on RIM's side. I'm not sure on the unlocking of a trial version, though. As far as the CALs, I do know that a 3.6 CAL will work on a 4.1 installation, but I'm not sure if the same logic could be placed on the SME/SBE version.

Here are some articles from RIM's KB that appear to have conflicting stories (one says simply update the CAL, the other says that you need to install the production version - both say they are applicable to 4.1).

Default Using Full BES 4.0 SRP identifier to unlock 4.1 BES trial download

Thanks... I figured it would work. A trial BES simply has an SRP identifier that expires after 30 days, it is a fully functioning BES, so I would assume that using a full version 4.0 SRP identifier (never activated) on a downloaded 4.1 BES 30 day trial (replacing the 30 SRP identifier) will work.

But I will see soon enough!

Dwight,
We are in the same boat and I can't get a clear answer. What happened when you tried the Production SRP into the Eval server? Thanks, Todd

Livelink - Redirection

An SRP is an SRP is an SRP 4.0/4.1 doesn't make a difference.
