Default monitor BES licensing

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I would like to know if there is a way to monitor BES licensing. My problem is that I often don't know that we run out of BES cals until the moment when somebody tries to activate a BlackBerry and can't due to being out of cals. Is there a way to configure BES to e-mail me it's licensing status before it runs out of licenses or at least lets me know when it does run out so I can get ahead of the issue before people start complaining. Our duties are split in our organization in regards to BES. We have many users who activate and break BES but we have another group that fixes it and has to deal with the complaints when they run out of licenses.

I would prefer not to have to buy a thrird party application just to find the status of licensing.

Thanks for the help.

There's no way to monitor it. Even though the BlackBerry Manager complaints that there are no more license you should still be able to activate users.

This may change in the medium term - it needs to.

If you're well versed with SNMP you can use the BlackBerryServer MIB to be alerted when licenses reach a certain threshold.

Check out this post.

Default How I do it . . .

I have created a spreadsheet that I update with each device addition, removal and all CAL adds. It calculates how many are remaining so I can watch it.

Sorry excuse for a system, but better than it used to be.

Last version of BES would let you add too many devices to the server, but then it would stop processing ALL data to and from the devices if you ran over. It wouldn't even let you know that you had exceeded the limit.
