Yeah, they say the file is big. Around 126 MB. I wonder why. A few people posted links over there ... they are newbies, they'll be banned soon, lol. I guess they didn't read the rules.

Yep. 48 is already out and no sign of when it is going to end!

Be very carefuly with the extra large files - the have LOTS of languages in them, and they probably are bundled with the RIM Internal Tools, including Quincy. The tool that tells RIM every time the BB is restarted.

that sounds more like a Desktop Manager sized file for 4.6 rather than the software for the handheld.

Is it my imagination, or is the 8300 being marginalized these days? I've found .42 for the 8300, but .44 and .46 seem to have appeared for the 8310 and 8320, but there's little love for my dusty old 8300 out there...

Was hanging on, hoping to keep my 8300 up to date until a 9xxx appears for T-Mobile...but I'm definitely feeling like I'm being left on the sidelines these days...

4.5.0.48 was leaked for the 8300 a few days ago.
It's likely not spreading like the other handhelds, since the 8310 and 8320 have basically replaced the 8300 and there's more demand for those models.

Thx...I feel a bit less abandoned knowing that. Hoping to find it soon (or an official one). Seeing the .42 memory leak -- I was down to about 2mb free memory before rebooting the 8300 just now... It's slow: I was able to go for several days before getting to this point, but I'd rather have something closer to production grade on my Curve!

Fingers crossed for this to surface soon...

dont worry... you'll get an official release from T-Mobile by the 5th of July since they like to stay ahead of the curve due to not having any other "perks" like 3g.

the only bummer is they'll probably release 4.5.0.37, and we'll all be spending the 3-day weekend at a t-mobile store, waiting for fresh sim cards.

On the memory leak problems... I'm wondering if those people with bad memory leaks are running Viigo beta. The recent msg from Viigo said they have a very bad memory leak issue. IE. Is it the OS or Viigo??

I've had memory leaks with all betas some more than others and I have been using either stabdard or beta viigo at the time among other apps.

JS - yes - I realize that - this has got to be the first time since I got the 8300 that this happened. As I like to try various apps and OS versions, and I've loaded / unloaded loads of stuff over the past year, I tend to check free memory fairly frequently to see what's phone-friendly and what isn't.

After a reboot, I'm back at about 12MB, which has been typical for a while now. I recently put an 8GB card in the phone, and will be moving all images and most ringtones there. Also already went through the exercise of removing foreign language files, the BB help file, BB messenger (I use JiveTalk), etc.

I've taken off a number of unused themes that I had collected over the last year, and will probably stip off a few more.

Now that BBWeather works again, I dropped YWeather and that other free one published recently (only need the weather once!).

3rd party apps down to BBWeather, Viigo (tango beta - that might be a memory leak culprit?), MaraTick, JiveTalk, Opera Mini, Live Search and Google Maps. Got rid of the Yahoo applets -- cute, but slow and big. Also have the updated free version of Docs to Go.

With all this, I average about 11.5 to 12MB free memory, and the 8300 seems fine with this - no lost messages, etc., no freeze ups - works fine. I just have to remember to keep an eye on it until/unless I manage to load up a more stable version of the OS...
