Default How To Secretary/Admins & VP's BB Syncing

Please Login to Remove!

One of the biggest problems we have in terms of Blackberry Synchronization issues deals with secretaries managing mail for their bosses, typically VP's or whatever.

Our environment:
BB Server Version 4.1.0.40
W2K3 Standard Edition 5.2.3790R2 SP1
Exchange 2000 SP3

The issues that we have relate to wireless synchronization between Outlook and BB 7250's and BB 8703's (Verizon). It's the standard stuff people mention on the forums, Calendar items are not removed from BB's, mail items remain on BB's. I have set the BB's to wirelessly sync on both handheld and mailbox. I have checked the mapi32.dll and cdo.dll file versions are the same or newer on the Bes Server.

According to a co-worker, on Bes 4.0 it seemed that when an admin deleted an item from their boses mailbox and the items went to the typical place it does, in the admins deleted items and not the boses deleted items, the items would not be removed from the boses BB. For the item to be removed from the boses BB, the deleted it needed to go in to the boses deleted items folder, not the admins.

From what I see, this does not appear to the case in 4.1. The item is removed from the Blackberry even though the item is in the admins deleted items folder. Has something changed or was this never the case to begin with?

Are there any special gotchas, do's, don'ts or tidbits that you folks have concerning an admin managing a boses mailbox and calendar that you can share that relate to sync issues?

With BES 4.1 a hard delete function was introduced, when the message can't be located anymore in the users mailbox than it will be removed from the BB.

Yup, since the BES cannot locate the original message the message becomes "orphaned" on the handheld. Orphaned messages are now removed.
Yea 4.1!! This is true for messages archived offline as well. Same scenario.
