You have to port the number, but ETFs will be waived. Basically it's like any other switch, except for the waiver of ETFs and you will not have to pay a deposit assuming you previously had an account with the other carrier for nine months or more.

Yes the 7130 has EVDO. The 8700 model will be CDMA as well.

Default Sprint/Nextel a WES.

I breifly talked to a Sprint rep at thier both in the solutions showcase today. The rep wouldn't say when the new BB's would come out only that they were going to release the 7130 for Sprint and that it would be EV-DO capable and the 8700 would have built-in GPS.
(take this with a grain-of-salt).
But you have to admit that Sprint/Nextel looked like a red-headed-step child with no new toys from BB at the conference. Almost all the carriers at WES that had a booth was showing off there new BB's.
TMO - 8700g, MDA
Cingular - 8700, I think I also seen a Treo 700 and some type of MDA.
Verison - ?? Forgot to look. But Did not notice any thing special. i.e. no crowds gathered around the booth.

Heck even Blackberry Connect had it's own booth. With new products on display.

I called Sprint yesterday to look into converting my wife from a Nextel i830 (worst phone ever!) to a Sprint A900. While I was on the phone I mentioned that I wanted to switch from my Nextel BB7520 to a Sprint BB8700 if one ever came out. The rep mentioned that they had a Sprint BB7130 coming but she didn't know when, just sometime soon. She had no info on the BB8700 though.

I hope it really is coming in September, that would be great. As much as I love my 7520 I won't miss the antenna, the short battery life of an iDEN phone or the snail speed internet. If the 8700 has GPS then that would cover the things I would miss from the 7520. Chirp is not a problem anymore since I now have a company Nextel and my BB is my personal phone.

The 7130 drops next Monday on CDMA, if memory serves me correctly. I haven't really heard anything about a CDMA 8700. Are the rumors out there (I'm sure they are).

of course the 8700 will have gps.... but if nextel is still on the same network... you can count on having that antenna next to your ear still.

The 7130 drops for CDMA this month. The iDEN 8700 drops quarter four. A CDMA 8700 hasn't even been rumored (but will most likely appear first on Verizon).

Sprint is rolling out 7130e on 28th of this month & is priced at $479 w/o any rebates etc. Price after 2 yr. rebate could range between $329-$379.

I just ordered a 7100i today and was told the 7130 will be out within the next 10 days. Dont know how much you can trust a store manager but he seemed really nice about it.

Wirelessly posted (7100i: BlackBerry7100i/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103)

We needed some laughter here. On a real note... What would be the difference in the 7130 sprint and 7100i?
