Default 9700 display crash

Please Login to Remove!

15 FEB 2011

my 9700 is about 6 months old. never dropped or watered.

yesterday, the display screen randomly started freaking out. hit 'unlock' button and all is fine. lock and unlock again and the display is all white. lock and unlock again and the screen is duplicating the top portion of my typical desktop picture across the entire screen 4 times. lock and unlock again and all is fine. lock and unlock again and there are transparent color streaks from top to bottom of the display screen (and you can't see anything else - no icons, etc.).

i've backed up the unit on BB desktop.

i've pulled the battery a few times, which sometimes helps, but not always. phone still works, even when i can't see the screen.

i have insurance, so i plan to return, but wondered if others had this issue and if these was a 'fix'?

thanks,
blaine

What was the last app you installed, and when?

Are you using a leaked or hybrid OS?

Hmmm, good question. I haven't added anything in over 2 weeks, but did notice 'Poynt' was trying to establish my GPS location after this started to glitch and ask me to 'allow'.

Poynt shows me where I can get cheapest gas, find food and more related to my current location.

don't know what a leaked OS would be ... just running the OS that came with the phone when new. last time i checked it stated all was 'up to date'.

You could try troubleshooting the problem, but personally I wouldn't even play with it if you can exchange it for a new one. Be SURE to backup your data and third party apps.

If you're going to exchange it, no harm in trying a fresh reload with no data. I bet that solves the problem. Sounds like data or OS corruption to me...

Backup your data, wipe the phone and then reload your data. See if that doesn't correct it. If not, then maybe an OS update would work. Might as well find out if this is software related first.

You still haven't resolved that one yet? I remember your post. I think you need new pants! ROTF

i faced the same problems. It was happening frequently ( daily 9 to 10 times) and was fed up. Then i opened up my blackberry, Removed all the dust, Unplugged the display and put it back. Now it happens just once in maybe a week.
