If your primary focus shifts from email to multimedia, or if you're just a huge music fan and Mac user, the iPhone makes sense. Ya gotta use what works best for you. Just don't fall into the trap of trying to make your iPhone into a BlackBerry. That's what I've always seemed to fall into (although never with an iPhone). I try something different, like a Nokia or Palm Pre, or even a MotoQ. After a while I am always dissatisfied with message handling. Something is just missing. And back to BlackBerry I come.

When I had an iPhone (several of them), I loved the tight integration with my Macs and the very well designed interface (generally speaking). But I always missed the little features on the BlackBerry that only made sense when I left the BlackBerry platform. For example, dialing from the home screen is something I use all the time on my BlackBerry, and is something that wasn't possible with the iPhone. I also missed seeing my appointments on the home screen (I use a simple custom theme on my BlackBerry that shows the next five appointments)... I couldn't do that on the iPhone either.

I very much enjoy my Macs, and obviously they have been around much, much longer than the iPhone has, but it also used to bug me to no end that Apple was so slow to improve the features of the iPhone. One day they'll get there, but I don't want to invest (again) in the iPhone at this point with my fingers crossed that new features will be implemented sooner rather than later.

That said, I sure wish RIM would incorporate actual IMAP support for BIS accounts on the device, including folder support. That would be a nice step forward. So to be fair, while Apple takes forever to improve the iPhone, RIM doesn't seem to be any better. But at least RIM has a history of generally solid devices under their belt.

i have tried all the phones that you talk about and then some and i always came back to the blackberry. i even used to have the iPhone the iPhone 3g and the 3gs and gave them away to family members because i was not happy with the system and what it does. but having gmail push and voip and some other apps i like and able to do everything and then some on the iPhone. the iPhone has grown into something more mature apple has added a few features that i just could not live with out push email , copy , paste , voip. blackberry has yet to come out with Voip and i dont think they ever will. hands down for a business professional the blackberry is the way to go, but for a person who is not looking for all business and some play time the iPhone is the way to go. the updates on the iPhone has reached the point where currently it meets my needs.

After two full weeks i have come back to blackberry. i am back on my storm and love it. as fun as the iphone is it just has to many issues. Apple has made the perfect phone for a provider with a sub-par system. due to the success of the iphone ATT can not handel number of phones and amount of data that is being used. everyday i had about 4-6 calls dropped never had that on the storm using edge. also everyother call Fail. the push mail does not work to well. the last straw was when i was on a overseas call with a CEO of a company and the call drops i have a major issue. i feel that if apple keeps going to att apple will start to hurt its brand. some people dont understand that some or all the issues are network related not device. so glad to be back on my storm .

I've been off the BB since April. Just to see what I was missing, I put my Bold on a data only plan strictly for BBM. After using the iphone for the better part of the year, I didn't really like the BB anymore. I found typing on the hardware keyboard slower then the iphone's virtual one. The BB browser was as dismal as I remembered. BB versions of the same apps I have on the iphone were simply pitiful and the BB app store is a joke compared to Apples. Sorry RIM, but you have lost me for good I fear.
