Default Virtual HA instead of BES HA?

Please Login to Remove!

Is anyone using VMware HA/DRS for high availability and not using the BES 5.X HA??

I know, kind of pointless if you ask me, but the VMware guys at my shop who drink the ‘VMware Kool-Aid’ are pitching just using that and not BES HA to provided HA.

Thanks

We have VMware.. and we still use BES's 5.0 HA...
Keepin' native, Keepin' it real.

VMWare HA won't help if you only lose the BES VM and not the entire host.

just use both!

If I had to pick one, I would ALWAYS choose application HA over Virtual infrastructure HA

Using native BES HA in VMWare environment. Heres another question...What about backing up the BES. Snapshot or something else? SQL is taken care of, just wondering about BES itself which sits on it's own box

This really depends on the platform. For BES for Exchange, aside from the BES software there is nothing stored on the server. If the vm blows up, you can install on a new vm without the need of restore.

On the other hand, BES for Domino you have to worry about states databases stored on the BES.
