DM version 5.0 - serious trouble with Calendar Sync

Hi - hope that someone might be able to help with this:
I just let the download for BB Desktop Manager 5 complete, then plugged in my BB 8900 for sync - I sync with MS Outlook. Everything was normal (and seemed much faster than it was with the previous DM version), until it got to the Calendar entries. It asked my permission to delete 848 entries on my MS Outlook calendar ! I checked my Sync settings and it is set for two-way sync and keeping all entries 366 days either side of today's date.
Utterly spooked by this, I looked at the "Detail" and found that there were future as well as past entries up for deletion. I rejected this and unplugged the BB. I then checked for duplicate entries on both BB and Outlook, suspecting this might be the reason for such a huge mass-deletion. There were none.
Is this what we get for the new DM Version 5 ?!? My entire calendar would have been wiped out !! Unless I am missing something here. I wonder how on earth to get live technical support when this kind of thing happens - after all, it is an issue imposed on us by RIM, so surely they should sort it out.
I would be grateful if someone could enlighten me - I suspect it will be a help for many other users as well. Many thanks.
