Anybody know approximatley how much a BES solution would cost (10 users, located in Canada, currently on Rogers)?

I believe its $995 USD per each user liscense, or something of that nature.

Last I heard $2,500 for a 10 user license. Don't recall if that was US or CDN.

In September, in the UK, with 5 x BB 7230 on 24 month contract the BES (20 CAL's) is FOC (£0.00) - List price is £2500 (this is a BES with 20 CAL's - not the "lite" version.

I suspect it will be back to £2500 when 4.00.0 9etc) arrives though.....

Buy.com and CDW both sell BES for significantly less than the retail price.

That is REALLY expensive. I have been involved in getting a small company up and running, and we all use 7230's from T-Mobile. There are 5 professionals in the organization, and we hope to grow to 10 or so over the next few years. While I really like the flexibility of managing my own BES, there is almost no way to justify this cost. I can have Mailstreet host our Exchange Srever, and provide Blackberry support for $50 per month. It would take 5 years to justify the price of the license alone, to say nothing of the dedicated server. And then I have to deal with upgrades, tech support, etc. This information just points out how good a deal Mailstreet (and the other hosted BES services) really offers. I second that opinion Guess: YIKES!!!

I saw a reseller selling a Small Business BES for something like $599 USD for five users or something. Can't remember exact price, but I've seen mid-$500's bandied about. You can get additional users for something like $249 per user for this one.

It's pretty expensive, but if you have several users, and already have an Exchange infrastructure, then it becomes cheaper than a full year of Mailstreet;

Mailstreet = $23 per user per month = $276 per year PER user
(a little over $300 for first year, including setup fees)

So a BES is still a good deal if you're in it for the long term AND you have existing email infrastructure such as Exchange!

I'm going to need to take a closer look at all this. Since we don't have an Exchange infrustructure in place at the moment, we will probably stay with Mailstreet for now.

Ouch. Mailstreet is a lot less painless then because setting up a properly-working Exchange infrastructure is not for the faint of heart except for the experienced sysadmin. At the very least, it gives you plenty of time to roll out your infrastructure later -- especially if the prices go down or you get a good price on a BES. Sometimes a reseller has a sale on BES.
