Default New and Looking For Suggestions

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all. I'm relatively new to the forums, the BlackBerry world, and now BlackBerry programming. I'm basically looking for a good starting point for learning (tutorials and the like). I did a quick search of this forum and noticed a few threads pointing to the dev section of blackberry.com. I headed over there and downloaded the development pdf's for both 4.2.1 and 4.3.0. In briefly reading over them, it appears that they will be helpful.

Other than threads pointing to the dev section of blackberry.com, I mainly found a few older threads with a few broken links. Anyway, to get to the point, does anyone have any good resources that they would like to share with me?

As for my background, I have experience in server administration (UNIX and Linux) and some programming (C++, C#.NET, PHP, Perl, and Shell scripting). I'm sure that some of my C knowledge will likely be helpful, but I'm not so certain about the other languages.

In any case, thank you for anything you may have to share with me.

Thank you both very much. Your links were more than helpful. I managed to finish my first program (no real use, but I got to deal with multiple screens, menus, and an http connection).

It's a script to get statistics on a potential enemy in World of Warcraft. It parses a url from user input, connects to a php script on my web server, and returns data. The php script pulls data from the xml script on wowarmory.com, parses it, and returns the information (I didn't want to get into parsing xml on the BB yet, lol).

If anyone wanted to take a look at the script (to use or to give me suggestions on code optimizations, shortcuts, etc), it is available via source and OTA.

Thanks again for the links!
