Oh dear.... installed DM 4.1 on Vista Beta 2, Vista couldn't install the driver, then upgraded to Vista RC1... walla... somehow it installed the driver when I plugged in my 7100v. But unfortunately DM 4.1 still couldn't find the device.

Excited with the Good News, installed DM 4.2, now Vista couldn't install the driver when I plugged in my 7100v. Tried to go back to DM 4.1, still the same .....

i suspect that Vista's driver for BB is not working

install RC1 then DM 4.2 then plug in BB device will work

install RC1 then plug in BB device then install DM 4.2 will fail

try this - do a restore and delete all BB drivers, then in stall DM4.2 before connecting BB device.

Default Vista RC1 Build 5600

I am running Vista RC1 Build 5600 along with Desktop 4.2 and it appears to be working well. I had some issues with the syncing using Outlook 2007 BT2R. It syncs fine, but some of the dates and things were a little off. I need to look into that more and find out why. Also using a Verizon 7130e. Waiting on an 8703 tomorrow!

same here - followed instructions to delete all prior BB software. loaded 4.2 from scratch, connected BB - and from there everything went smooth. before then - nothing - not even a charge through USB.

running Vista RC2 Build 5744 and my BB 8700g (T-Mobile) doesn't recognize the device, after successfully installing the apps (I am able to synchronize my data using an xp machine and when I had the Pearl, previously..that worked in Vista).

I'm guessing that RIM doesn't have the Vista drivers our, just yet..for the 8700g.

Just plugged in my BB 7520 for the first time since upgrading to Vista Business Edition (not beta - the live release version). When I plug the USB cable in, the computer detects it (with the typical USB connection sound) but the BB Device Manager doesn't see it. (The BB device manager only shows COM connection options - it doesn't even show USB anymore). Therefore, BB Desktop can't see the device.

My software is one version out of date... I'm downloading the updates now to see if that helps.

/edit - Updating to BB Desktop v4.2 solved the problem. Note that this is NOT the version that Nextel recommends. (Nextel's download page still shows version 4.0 SP1).

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7130e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I was having a similar issue with a Verizon 7130 and Vista RC1 build 5600. I tried plugging the BB in before loading DM 4.2 and then I couldn't get the computer to see the BB other than the fact it was plugged in.

Uninstalling DM4.2 and then reinstalling should clear this up right?
