Hello! Been quite a bit of time since I was last here.
Just trying to rediscover my love for Blackberry again. Been a BB user since 2011. Hope Blackberry gets its stuff together again so we can see more users on this forum
Life was better back when BB was king. I used a BB from 2005 until 2009 when mobile technology was an appropriately sized part of our lives. Now it's completely out of control. Adults walking around like zombies with their little screen held up in front of their faces. I try to resist it but don't always succeed. I come back here to look around and see if anyone is meandering aimlessly around a once busy digital landscape. I actually long for the days when text, email and a few games were enough. I was actually more excited about new technology then than I am now. The new phones do so much more but I've become numb to it. It's not as exciting as it was during the evolution from the brick phones of the late 90's up until around 2009 when smartphones completely took over. Back then everything was changing from year to year. Now it's like the same thing over and over with a few minor incremental changes. I'm bored with it.
The companies figured out that if the battery was not removable the users would generally trade up for a new one. Then companies like Apple played with the battery charging and even more people traded up. Now they tell people they need bigger and better phones. Better cameras or they would seem socially deficient. With the average smart phone at $1000 or so the next big thing will be to convince people they need a new thing called a Pager. It will give out a tone when someone wants them and they can go to a pay phone on the corner and put in a dime and call who ever wants them.
The battery was heavy but I also had one that only used external power via a lighter plug in the car. I still have the phone. Sadly none of the carriers support the thing.
I can imagine the looks I would get using it today.
