During my tenure at MindSpring (just as the EarthLink-MindSpring merger was finalizing), Sky Dayton was viewed, by the MindSpring people, as a demon of sorts (there was a LOT of loyalty from the MindSpring family to Charles Brewer and Mike McQuary (McQ)) ... turns out the guy was pretty damn smart and way ahead of his time...
Anyhow, I'm reading this article in my hardcopy Wired Mag now, but they slowly release all of their content on their website for free viewing (I have to have bathroom reading materials, so a few bucks a year won't kill me, right?). It will be available tomorrow, but I managed to figure out the naming convention of the article name (so its technically available now through a direct link).
Anyhow, it looks like Helio may be on to something that a lot of us would like to see here in North America but only get to envy the Asian market for their 'anything goes' open arms approach to wireless technology. Very good read (I absolutely love Wired's writers - very easy to read but fascinating and normally in-depth enough to keep my attention throughout the entire magazine).
