Default Turning off blackberry internet.

Please Login to Remove!

I have a blackberry curve 8520...

Earlier I got a rolling contract on orange with 'unlimited' - really it is 500mb of internet usage...My questions is however does it only cost when im actually browsing the internet page for page or is there always a charge? If there is always a charge how do I turn it off so no charges occur?

If I do turn it off does it also mean I can no longer recieve or make phonecalls/texts?

Kind regards.

You can turn off all data services and still be able to use the phone and SMS. Of course you won't have email, BBM, or access to apps like Facebook or Twitter either. But to use your BlackBerry just as a phone/texting platform you can easily turn off data services by:

opening Manage Connections > Mobile Network Options > Data Services = Off.

Thanks for that Rambo. Also, can BBM be used on wifi or does it have to be on the data plan - or can wifi even be used with dataplan turned off for that matter?

On the other side of this issue, 500 MB is a lot of memory. You won't have to turn your mobile connection off a lot if any to operate below the 500 MB a month.

You need a blackberry data plan to even use BBM.
With the data plan it will work over wi-fi.

Turning data off as rambo suggested, means wi-fi will not work either (as that is a data service, so data services need to be on).

And no, its not an always charged connection, it will only use data when you are connecting to the internet for data. i.e. BBM, email, browsing, and any data apps (getting info from facebook, twitter, map data etc)
