Default Recommedation where BES should be located

Please Login to Remove!

I new to this forum but have a few questions regarding BES. We will be setting up the latest version 4.x, not me but another IT group. My question is where should the BES should be located? Should it be where the Exchange server is? Right now our Exchange server (only one) resides in Washington, D.C. and it was decided that the BES server will be setup in our Denver office (go figure). I'm having a hard time finding information online as to the recommendations for where the BES should be located so I can provide to management as proof. I've been fighting this issue but unfortunately this is just a political thing. Any help provided is greatly appreciated.

Take a look at KB01685
If you are running Exchange, look at KB14139 for detailed information on how latency can affect performance of the BES

When I looked up those KB's I get nothing. Appears to not exist anymore. Do you have direct links?

Thx.

BES should be local to the mail server. In the case of Exchange, ping times in excess of 50MS will cause issues and there is no fix. It's a limitation of the MAPI Subsystem used by Exchange.
