Default Blackberry browser on a PC?

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to determine a way to get my PC to access the network and appear to use the Blackberry browser to the operator.

Reason is I want to avoid normal tethering which I understand uses a different APN than the Blackberry browser.

Is there an available workaround?

Yes.
(The above poster is wrong)

MobiShark can do this by routing tether data over BIS, the BlackBerry Browser data infrastructure.

That's true, but it costs $50 bucks, I think the op wanted to do tethering for Free so he don't have to pay his carrier's tethering charge. Plus it looks like if you change devices you may have to buy it again as the reg code is tied to the pin.

The browser on Bold identifies itself as a Internet Explorer. I'm not sure that the browser ID would do what what the poster was talking about. Question, how much can the carrier see on a BES subscription.

You could try our beta of TetherBerry. If you are interested PM, and I'll send you the link.

Firefox is capable of appearing as BlackBerry browser. Try downloading the free plugin "User Agent Switcher" (https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/59).

Inside the plugin application (Firefox menu "Tools" > "User agent switcher" > "options"), add a user agent with the following string:

"BlackBerry8800/4.5 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102"

You can custimize this to your BlackBerry's model number and OS version if needed.

Then pick this newly added user agent from the menu ("Tools" > "User agent switcher") and try to open the page you need.
