Default SMS question

Please Login to Remove!

I have a 7750 owned by my company, we have data capability but have email turned off. I had been using PIN and SMS to send messages to friends, but recently I have lost the SMS option. In the address book when I click the wheel on a name, I only have the options: CALL, PIN. I used to have the SMS option....then one day this week I had the SMS option back again, but it dissapeared the next day. Any suggestions? Other people in my company have the SMS option.

dan

After reading a few other posts I have realized that most people feel it is useless to have a BB without email capability. just an FYI, I am a customer service rep (fix it guy in the field) and we use an internal program for time recording and ordering parts.

The BES administrator for your company has likely disabled SMS. This is done through an IT policy, which is pushed down to the handheld.

Sounds like you may have abused SMS so they turned yours off. Wouldn't that suck?

SMS is generally covered under the phone plan and most providers charge 10 cents a message, so I would guess your Admin is working on turning it off via the IT Policy to save the company money. It sucks that you don't have any email with the device, either.
