Default Email Notification problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I have developed a small issue wih my Storm 2 9520 on the Vodafone UK network.

For the last couple of days, I get the email notification symbol appear with, for instance 6 messages... When I select "messages" to view the email list, I may only see 1 or 2 in the list, not the six as the notification states...

If I then open a message, read it, then go back to the list to view the messages again, all 6 will now be on display...

I have resent the service books, re-registered the host routing tables, pulled the battery, and with the help of Vodafone deleted all the service book, and had Vodafone resend t hem...

Any idea why this happens, it has only happened over the last day or so

See How do I reset my message counter to clear, or zero? - BlackBerryFAQ and see if there's a clue there.

Just out of curiosity, are using an aftermarket theme, or one of the stock themes?

Standard theme...

This is not the issue I am having, if the notification states, for instance 6 emails, when i open the message folder it may be empty, or it may show 2 of the 6 messages.

If it does show any messages, if I open one of them, then return to the message screen, I will see all 6... very strange

Seem to have fixed it

I did a security wipe, having backed up first, then restored the device, now seems to be OK....

I was thinking... I installed the Ebay app earlier this week, which may have been around the time the problems started.... so I have not installed that again..

Glad that worked. I suggested that link not because it was the exact symptom but because it was a counter problem and might have been corrected by one of the methods. Just for reference, did you try anything recommended in that article, or did you go straight to the security wipe?

I read the link, but never tried anything in it. Reading it I felt it did not fit my problem... maybe I was wrong I am convinced that it was the Ebay app that I installed... I did the wipe, and restored the device with everything except that app, and it is still working OK so far....

Thanks again

Ok. Thanks. Even if you had tried anything in that article and it didn't work, that would have been good info. But also good to know the security wipe, etc did the trick.
