Default Can't set up my email?

Please Login to Remove!

Last weekend, I got a unlocked Verizon BlackBerry 9530 Storm to use with AT&T.

I can't seem to set up my email? What am I doing wrong.

The manual says to click the Setup Wizard icon on the phone and when I do, the only option I see on the screen is:
. I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server.

Then I tried the Blackberry Desktop Software to get it to work:
On the Enterprise Email tab, it says:
! Enterprise email services are currently unavailable
Your administrator has not added your mailbox to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Isn't there suppose to be another option so I can use either "Outlook" or Gmail?

You need a blackberry data plan for starters.
Then look at the "how to get storm working on at&t/t-mobile" stickied thread.

Is this gonna be another of AT&T's many "fees" they tack on your bill?
Would it be the data plan for the "Torch"? I'm on a data plan now...

I saw that "stickied" thread. Sounds like a lot of work just to add a phone.
Maybe I'll sell this one on craigslist and get a real working phone that AT&T sells...

Its a Blackberry data plan. A data plan for blackberries.
I don't know how much it is over a standard data plan.

But yes, you will need it for any blackberry and AT&T will eventually add it to your plan for you, if you don't.

Indeed, I would suggest getting a blackberry AT&T support.

Jack, assuming that you are going to use BES, then you need a BES data plan and then you need to have your company BES Admin activate your BB on the BES. We can't help with that.

To use it with personal email, you need a BIS account activated on your device and then you can use any of RIMs services including email. Since it says "Enterprise services not available" I am assuming that you do not have any BB data plan for that device.

OK, I have the BB data plan account.
Using the "Unlocked Storm on AT&T or T-Mobile" sticky
On:
8. On your Storm go to Option > Advanced Options > TCP/APN should say
APN: wap.cingular
Username:WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1

I'm on AT&T not cingular, so that can't be correct???

Mine currently says this:
8. On your Storm go to Option > Advanced Options > TCP/APN should say
APN Settings Enabled box is checked.
APN: emgsm.vzw3g.com
APN Authentication Enabled box is unchecked.
Username: is blank
Password: is blank

So, now what do I do.

I did go down to the main AT&T store today and they said any Verizon phone will not work with AT&T no matter what I do???

What the AT&T people told you is partially correct. A Verizon CDMA only device will not work on ATT. But the 9530, 9550, 9650, etc. will since they also have the North American GSM frequencies along with the CDMA set. You will only get EDGE on the GSM side, not 3G.

You have to substitute the AT&T data for what is there now, i.e. replace what is there with the AT&T information from the sticky.

I'm thinking of just selling this phone instead...

Jack, follow the directions EXACTLY as written.
The directions state the correct TCP/APN with the cingular address. The majority of ATT used to be Cingular. What you have currently entered is Verizon's APN and that won't work.

Follow the directions of the initial post exactly as written, it will work. I used the 9530 this way for a year.

I've done step A & C, but on B:

b) Install your current OS on your BlackBerry device to your PC.
My current OS is V5.0.0.328 and I can't find that one on the Blackberry site.
Does it have to be the exact same one?

Hey thanks! How come I couldn't find it... I was searching too.
Well, I'll download that. Anywhere specific I should place it on my HD or just in my BB Storm Folder in documents?

Doesn't matter, you have to install it anyway so where you chose to put the downloaded file doesn't matter.

OK, it said:

2. On the PC, go to
C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Share d\LoaderFiles\**your OS version**\Java
Create a new folder and name is ATT. Find the .cod named net_rim_bb_browser_daemon and move the cod to your new folder.

Mine reads different?
C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Share d\Applications\MediaSyncMobile\For_6.0.0

It said:
Create a new folder and name is ATT. Find the .cod named net_rim_bb_browser_daemon and move the cod to your new folder.

So where do I add the folder? and where do I find that file:
net_rim_bb_browser_daemon.cod?

I only saw 6 .cod files in the For_6.0.0 folder, but not net_rim_bb_browser_daemon.cod?
Where do I find that file?

I'm running Win7 64 bit Ultimate.

Using 64 bit means going to Program Files (x84)\Common files etc

I'm assuming you've installed the OS by now.

And that is a must.

Once you've installed the OS, you will find the Java files needed elsewhere in the instructions.

I haven't installed it on my desktop yet. Just downloaded it. So installing another OS on my desktop won't mess up my current desktop OS? Sorry, I'm overly cautious.

You have to install the OS I directed you to before.
Its the OS for the blackberry and will be treated like any application by your PC.
Its not a "windows OS".

Once installed, then look in the above location remembering to go to programs files (x86)
