Just noticed the other day that the little plastic piece on the bottom of the phone that looks like a chin and says "AT&T" on it is loose - it moves side to side and up and down. Pretty annoying b/c I rest my fingers there when I type. Anyone else notice this on their 9700s? Otherwise mine is rock solid.

Mine is solid as well and I am with AT&T. That said, this is at least the second time I've heard someone complain about that piece being loose on their 9700. The potential problem areas in build quality seem to be that and the trackpad.



If it is really bothering you I would bring it in to your local AT&T store. Hopefully they will be willing to either repair or replace it as it is definitely not normal for the piece to be loose.

You can pop it off and use a small square of double sided tape and it won't move anymore.

Mine is loose too! Along with the trackpad.


The phone is awesome but I might have to have it exchanged because things like that annoy me to no end.

I would exchange it for a new one. Build quality issues seem to be rather common. I have five friends that bought theirs the same day I got mine and of the six 9700's only one is up to the normal good build quality of all the other BlackBerry's I've had. At least AT&T is really good about exchanging them as long as you get it done within the first day or so.

Think I'm going to exchange it. At first I wasn't going to b/c I didn't feel like re-doing my BSE screen protector. But since that seems to be peeling off slightly I want to re-do it anyway.
