Newer code for the Curve contains a device self test application which includes the following tests:

Vibrator Test
Keypad Backlight Test
LCD Pixels Test
Handset Speaker Test
Handset Microphone Test
Handsfree Speaker Test
Headset Detect Switch Test
Headset Speaker Test
Headset Microphone Test
RF Antenna Test
GPS Antenna Test
Bluetooth Speaker Test
Bluetooth Microphone Test
Holster Detect Switch Test
Bluetooth Microphone
Light Sensor Test

This looks like a very useful application. Will someone share how it is accessed? I could not find it anywhere under Options so my guess is that it is an Alt+(something) code.

try this... Options->Mobile Network... click the BlackBerry key, then Diagnostics test... is this what you were looking for?

Based on the looks of the code for the device self test, the diagnostics applications is different.

Yes they're two different things. I don't know that there is a publically known way of accessing it.

C'mon. Someone must be willing to share how this application is accessed.

If you look at the screen shot, it's running OS 4.2.2.114 which is a later OS than that which was released by the carriers (ie: 4.2.2.89).

I'm sure by upgrading your OS you should have that option.

I actually have an apps version of 4.2.2.146 on my Curve. And, since I'm the original poster, I'm still wondering how to access the self test application.

I wouldnt be surprised that the self test your describing is run automatically when the device is rebooted. it may not be something that can be run manually.

That's definitely a possibility. Maybe it requires holding down some combination of keys while the device is rebooting.

Works nicely...multiple test cases for each category. Results logged in a text file. Nice find!
