Default Brand new TMobile 9780 - OS6 Factory Install - Why so SLUGGISH???

Please Login to Remove!

i just got this today. Activated it for BES and everything from moving from the different homescreen pages to scrolling down the messages list to alt-tabbing around is very laggy. It shows I am running OS6.0 Bundle 1879.

It shows that I have 250MB of internal memory free so this is really strange.

Prior to this I had a TMobile 9700 with only 20MB-30MB free. It was running the latest OS5 and I had NO problems. I would just go back to that but the LCD is broken (white screen).

Anyone know why this is and if there is a way to fix it?

Please help!

Strange. I'd try upgrading the OS to the latest and see if that doesn't get you going. http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...languages.html

My 9780 runs fast...with 263MB free. I never had any version of OS6 run sluggish. You running any other apps?

Maybe, it was just a premature knee-jerk reaction. It's been fine since I brought it home yesterday - even installed all my old apps on it.

It was really slow, frustratingly slow, during the first few hours. I was looking at blackberryos.com for a new OS (before Howard S. posted the link above) and it suggested after the install it needs time to settle, after 3 or so reboots. I thought and still think that is ridiculous, but, I mean, it kind of worked.

I'll tell ya - there are some things like, the overall search, the notifications/settings drop downs, the email rendering. But I can't stand Trays (although I found out you can get to the All tray by hitting end, which helps) and I hate that pictures are now, by default, saved to a Camera folder (vs the Pictures folder).

One more question. Is it just me or was there a Social Media tray? I thought there was one, and now its gone. Anyway to bring that back? I can't find anything on manipulating trays...a google search usually comes up with issues surrounding Windows taskbar trays

I'm a predictable guy. I like things to be where I left them and not have that revolving tray that ads mystery to my device. Try this theme, I am loving it...

PS... To change the wall paper I had to find the picture and click on it then chose set as wall paper. The other way wouldn't work for some reason.

Tried that. I didn't love it. I would like something similar though. Maybe I will try building one, although I tried it before and I am not that good at it.

You must want a different style theme with no icons at the bottom if you don't like that one. It only worked for me after changing the wall paper. Sorry it doesn't work for you.

Why style you looking for?

No, I was actually looking for that style. However, I thought the theme was a little sloppy. The alarm notification was cut off on the bottom right side of the screen. Still exploring.
