Default Storm 3 is the 9800/Torch

Just a heads up that I read something on a blog, to the tune "I am surprised nobody leaked the Storm 3".

To that, I thought to myself, "duh" -- isn't that the 9800/Torch!?

Well, now you heard it so. Maybe. Maybe not. It's the same thing. If I am not mistaken -- missing trackpad on the Odin refresh slide found. Then in which case, this becomes the Storm 3 specific leak.

I presume some carriers will be tempted to call it the Storm 3.

Nope, as the 9800 is a slider with a qwerty keyboard, and the image from that article shows a storm 1/2 style device i.e. no trackpad.

RIM employees are being told to never utter the name "Storm" ever again.

Their 3rd touch device should having nothing to do with Storm. it's not the 9800 and it's quite nice. What RIM should have released as it's first touch device.

This of course only coming from friends at RIM... so who knows.

The 9800 has never been rumored to be a "Storm 3". Except by ignorant people who start rumors.

Having had the Storm 2 (and was recently stolen) I kinda agree that people is predisposed to think that because is a "Storm" it has to be a piece of shit... but then they see the little differences and start loving it...

Anyway I do hope they drop the name Storm 3 cause it gives them a bad reputation... though I hope they keep the features that made Storm 2 so awesome and them some more
